She's Gone Country sounds like a terrific read! And I enjoyed your interview with Jane Porter. I'll add her book to my August buy list.

I agree Kim, growing up as country girls was fun! (BTW for anyone wondering, Kim is my sister). My favorite part of all of it was getting to skip school to ride in the truck with Dad when he hauled cattle over the pass. That, and playing in the piles of feed were the best!

Thank you for visiting my blog! Just a reminder to everyone, you have until Sunday night to leave a comment and be entered to win She's Gone Country!

I'm so glad you let me know about Jane's new book! I'm looking forward to reading it but I also enjoyed learning a little more about Jane and her family's cattle ranch history. If our dad ever won the lottery (even though he doesn't buy tickets) he would purchase a cattle ranch and be as happy as a tick on a hound dog. Whether he was branding, helping a cow give birth or taking a load to market he loved it all. Jane's memories triggered my own - I thought Dad was a pretty awesome cowboy and it was fun to watch him at work. Even though I was always afraid a cow was going to charge and run me over - needless to say I never wore red to the pastures! I never wanted to be a "4Her" (I'm too much of a wimp) but I always thought they were pretty cool. It will be fun to read about Jane's model going home and getting in touch with her inner cowgirl!

You are all so right -- it does sound like a good book. I can tell you that it really is great. I got to read it last week and I loved it. It was fun seeing behind the scenes of the life of a model. The country setting makes me want to move to a ranch somewhere but I don't think I could handle all that outdoor sweaty work, so it'll never happen. I think my favorite part of the book is the love story, I mean really, doesn't everyone have that old boyfriend that they thought they'd marry but circumstances kept you apart? Oh, and another favorite part is her relationship with her three sons. With two of my own, I've got a soft spot for other all-boy moms. Seriously, you are all going to love this book.

If anyone doubts how bad it really is, they should try going without it for a few days to see how their body reacts. I have removed all sugar from my diet and the first three days I suffered terrible symptoms as my body went through a detox. Crazy, I had no idea my body would respond in that way!! I am happy to report that since getting rid of this "substance" I am sleeping better, have more energy during the day and (bonus) have lost weight.
